Karachi — In a significant move to strengthen waste management services in one of the city’s major industrial zones, Managing Director Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) Tariq Ali Nizamani visited the North Karachi Association of Trade & Industry (NKATI) and held an important meeting with NKATI President Faisal Moiz Khan.
The meeting focused on extending SSWMB’s comprehensive waste management services to the North Karachi industrial area, aiming to create a cleaner, greener, and healthier environment for industries and surrounding communities. Under this collaboration, the following services will be provided:
Waste collection from factories on a regular basis
Manual sweeping twice a day across the industrial zone
Mechanical Sweeper Washing (MSW) services on demand
Water bowser services on demand
Speaking at the occasion, MD SSWMB Tariq Ali Nizamani emphasized that the Board will establish an exclusive operational setup for the industrial zone to ensure efficient and uninterrupted waste management. He stated that all industrial waste will be collected on time and transported directly to the Karachi landfill site at Jam Chakro, as improper disposal can severely impact the environment and contaminate drinking water sources.
NKATI President Faisal Moiz Khan welcomed SSWMB’s initiative, noting that this partnership will not only help improve environmental conditions but will also play a crucial role in protecting public health. He expressed confidence that joint efforts will lead to sustainable and visible improvements across the industrial zone.
During the meeting, Faisal Moiz presented a shield to MD Tariq Nizamani in recognition of SSWMB’s commitment to enhancing Karachi’s cleanliness and waste management standards.
Both sides agreed that a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed soon to officially launch this collaborative effort.
