Karachi: Two brothers injured in gun attack near NICVD

KARACHI: Two brothers sustained gunshot wounds when unidentified armed assailants opened fired at them near National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) here on Wednesday, ARY News reported.

According to police, two brothers – Aamir Sheikh and Yaseen Sheikh – came under a firing when two unknown armed men on a motorcycle opened fire at them near NICVD Bridge, leaving both of them injured.

The firing victims were rushed to nearby hospital where doctors have pronounced their condition out of danger. Both brothers hail from Larkana city who said to be students and residing in a hostel. Aamir Sheikh is said to be a medical student in Sindh Medical University while his brother Yaseen Sheikh is a student at NED University of Engineering and Technology.

The gunmen fired six bullets, four of which hit the victims. Yaseen Sheikh received three bullet injuries while his brother received single gunshot wound.

A large number of people including friends, students, and relatives reached the hospital after the firing incident.

Apprising the media, uncle of the victims said that both students were coming to home from their hostel when came under the attack.

Sindh home minister, Sohail Anwar Siyal, has taken notice of the incident and directed Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi to probe the matter.

Superintendent Police (SP) Saddar Town Touqir said that six shells of 9mm bullets have been recovered from the crime scene and investigation has been underway.

However, the motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained.
