Karachi: Two killed in encounters

KARACHI: Two criminals were killed in alleged encounters in different areas of Karachi while three people were slain in different firing incidents, ARY News reports.

An extortionist belonging to Lyari Gang War was killed in a police encounter in the area of New Karachi 11-J. According to the police, he was wanted by police for murder, extortion and encounter cases.

Police also said that they signalled the criminal to stop but he opened fire at them. He was shot dead due to the retaliatory fire.

A criminal named Ali Haider was slain in an encounter at Paposh Nagar. Police said that that Haider was looting the people. He opened fire at the police but was killed in the retaliatory fire.

Weapons were also recovered from the deceased criminal.

A Lyari gangster named Ghaffar Punjabi, belonging to Baba Ladla group, was arrested by the police after a clash at Chakiwara area of Lyari. He was wanted by the law enforcing agencies for serious criminal offences.

Police arrested two Lyari gangsters from Al-Falah area and recovered weapons from them.

Another criminal was nabbed in a wounded state from Khayaban-e-Badr area of Defence.

Meanwhile, two people were killed in firing incidents. A person was shot dead at Ghareeb Shah Road at Lyari whereas another person was gunned down at Frontier Colony area.

A person named Habibullah was also killed in a firing incident at Bakra Peeri area of Malir.
