KARACHI: Despite tall claims of ensuring interruption-free power supply during iftar and sehri, many areas of the port city of Karachi experienced load-shedding during the first sehri of Ramazan, ARY News reported.
North Nazimabad, Liaqatabad, Hassan Square, Moosa Colony, Shah Faisal Colony, Shadman, Buffer Zone, Nusrat Bhutto Colony, Kathore, and Gadap Town were among the areas which faced power outages.
Load-shedding caused hardships and agony to residents of these areas as they had to have their first sehri in darkness amid hot and humid weather.

It is pertinent to mention here that power distribution companies were barred from carrying out load shedding during sehar, iftar, tarveeh timings during the holy month of Ramazan.
The Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) had issued Standard Operating Procedure’s (SOP) for implementation of power load management plan during the holy month by all power distribution companies (DISCOs).
Chief executive officers (CEOs) of all DISCOs were directed to ensure that there will be no load management for domestic consumers during iftar, taraveeh and sehar .
