Karimabad Underpass: Sindh CM directs transfer of utility lines

KARACHI: Chief Minister of Sindh has directed the K-Electric to transfer its utility lines immediately for rapid completion of the Karimabad Underpass project.

The monitoring and evaluation team of the P&D Department recently visited the site of the Karimabad Underpass project to inspect the progress and building standards of the project, a spokesman of the Sindh’s Chief Minister said.

It was declared that the basic cause of the delay in the underpass project has been owing to the K-Electric utility lines. “The chief minister has ordered the power utility to immediately complete shifting of its utility lines”.

The chief minister also directed concerned officials to regularly remain in contact with the power company. “The utility lines transfer should be completed in the first week of February 2026,” chief minister said.

The CM has also ordered completion of the Karimabad Underpass project in March 2026.

According to the original PC-1 (Project Cost-1), the estimated cost of the underpass project was Rs1.34 billion, but due to rising construction material prices, the revised cost reached Rs3.46 billion. The Sindh Government approved this revised PC-1, officials said.
