Kashmir Issue can't be ignored: PM Nawaz to UN General Assembly

The Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif was addressing the UN General Assembly in New York on Friday.

During the address, he expressed discontentment over the suspension of foreign secretary level talks between Pakistan and India.

PM Nawaz said, “The people of Kashmir are deprived of basic human rights and they are awaiting the resolution of the Kashmir Issue for a long time”.

While condemning the genocide of the innocent Palestinian people, he urged the international fraternity to prevent the atrocities being carried out in Palestine and to make efforts to resolve the issue.

He said that we want to make Pakistan a welfare state, like the way its founder Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah wanted it to be.

Addressing the international fraternity, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said, “We have been a victim of terrorism for a long time, while our forces are fighting a decisive war against terrorism and in this they have complete support of the people of Pakistan”.

He added that Pakistan is a nuclear state and it is well aware of its responsibilities. “We have made state-of-the-art arrangements for the safety and security of our nuclear assets and we are not intended to become part of any arms race in the region” said the premier.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif indirectly expressed concerns on India being made member of the UN Security Council, saying that Pakistan opposes the inclusion of any new permanent member in the Security Council.
