Khawaja Asif says ‘not aware of PM’s vote of confidence’

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister of Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Wednesday claimed that he was unaware of Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif’s vote of confidence, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

Talking to journalists, the defence minister said that he is not aware of whether PM Shehbaz Sharif has decided to take vote of confidence from National Assembly (NA) or not.

Meanwhile, Khawaja Asif said that the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) will protect the parliament boundaries at any cost and will not allow any interference.

He said that the parliament is protected under the constitutional rights. He further said that the ruling government does not want a clash between the judiciary and the parliament but “Currently, there are no dialogues to resolve the political dispute,” Khawaja Asif said.

It is pertinent to mention here that, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made a surprise move and decided to take a vote of confidence from the National Assembly (NA).

Sources told ARY News that PM Shehbaz Sharif would take the vote of confidence from the National Assembly on April 27, Thursday.

Sources added that PM Sharif also completed consultations with the former premier and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid Nawaz Sharif and other leaders.

The premier also directed the NA lawmakers of all coalition parties to ensure their presence in Islamabad.
