Khursheed demands sacking of PIA managing director

ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly (NA) has demanded the dismissal of Managing Director of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), ARY News reported.

Khursheed Shah said that the national airliner cannot be declared innocent in the air crash which claimed at least 47 lives.

He claimed the salary package of PIA’s MD is six to seven million rupees.

The opposition leader also claimed that ATR jets have not been designed for the high-altitude flights.

A PIA jet heading to Islamabad from Chitral on Wednesday crashed near Havelian in Abbottabad district moments after it disappeared from the radar resulting in death of 47 people on-board.

Chairman PIA, Secretary aviation division, DG civil aviation and CEO PIA briefed the prime minister about the tragedy on Thursday and maintained that the flight crew and pilots were highly experienced and professional with thousands of hours of flying experience behind them.
