Khusro Bakhtyar visits Chinese Embassy, condemns consulate attack

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar, called on Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Yao Jing at Chinese Embassy in Islamabad on Monday (today).

Mr. Bakhtyar during his meeting with Mr. Yao Jing, the Chinese Ambassador, strongly denounced the attack on Chinese Consulate in Karachi on Friday (November 23).

The minister terming the attack as a conspiracy to sabotage China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), said that these detractors cannot change Pakistan’s resolve with regard to mega cooperation.

” The whole nation respects its decades long ties with China and support CPEC”, he continued.

The Chinese ambassador thanked the minister for the prompt action by the forces to safeguard the embassy in Karachi.

Both the sides expressed their resolve to further strengthen and expand Pak-China Cooperation.

Earlier today, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry had said “those trying to sabotage Pak-China relations will never succeed in their ‘evil’ designs.

He was addressing a ceremony held for collection of donations for the two policemen who sacrificed their lives in foiling the terrorist attack on the Chinese consulate, here in Islamabad, the minister said “any attempt of denting deep rooted and time tested, Pak-China relations to go in ‘vain’.”

The Deputy Chief of Mission at the Chinese Embassy Zhao Lijian addressed the ceremony and thanked the minister and other officials for attending the fund raising ceremony and said that the relationship between the two countries is rooted in the hearts of the masses of the both the countries.

He said any step to ‘disturb’ bilateral relations between Pakistan and China to go “useless.”
