KP Gov't ready to hold LB elections on April 30: Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, Imran Khan has said that the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is ready to hold Local Body (LB) elections in the province on April 30, whilst the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has been requested to initiate a pilot project for introducing biometric system for the polls – ARY News reports.

Talking to media after meeting the acting Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice Nasir ul Mulk, Imran Khan said that the judiciary and media are independent today, whereas corruption and issues cannot be resolved until transparent elections are not insured in the country.

He said that Pakistan is through a difficult time today, only because of the people getting elected on the basis of bogus voting and rigging.

Khan said that the CEC has supported his stance, the polling stations where the registered voters were only 1500, there some 8000 votes were polled and demanded to take an action against the officials deployed there, under the Criminal Code for they have violated the constitution.

The PTI Chairman stated that the ones casting fake votes, have been identified, they must be dealt with accordingly.

He alleged that the two major political parties of the country settled last general elections; everyone is crying that the polls were rigged.

Responding to a question pertaining to forward bloc of PTI members in KP Assembly, Imran khan said that objecting on an issue is their right, yet nobody can blackmail the party over ministries and it is their wishful thinking.

Khan said that PTI will get re-elections held in these constituencies, but it would not get blackmailed.
