KARACHI: In a crackdown against water theft, the Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KW&SB) on Tuesday disconnected six illegal water connections in Karachi, ARY News reported.
The illegal water connections were disconnected in Manghopir and Yaro Goth as the crackdown has entered its sixth day.
KW&SB Managing Director Engr Asadullah said the suspects were stealing water of Baldia Town through the illegal connections.
“Water was being sold in tankers through 48 inch diameter illegal line,” he said.
Engr Asadullah said six constructions built for stealing water were demolished and as many tanks for storage of water were also razed.

He said heavy valves and thousands of feet pipes used in stealing water were confiscated.
In January this year, the Supreme Court had issued a notice to the Indus Water Commission (IWC) over a petition against water theft from River Indus.
A two-member apex court bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar had heard the petition in Islamabad.
During the hearing, the petitioner, in his plea, had contended before the court that India was stealing water from River Indus and the route of Marala Link Canal should be changed.
