Lahore Police on Saturday claimed to have seized a huge cache of arms and reported the arrest of several persons for allegedly being involved in criminal activities.
A statement by the Cantt Division Police informed that it had arrested as many as 174 ‘criminals’ from whose possession were recovered 18 pistols, two rifles, two Kalashnikov, several bullets, more than three kilogrammes of hashish and 65 litres of liquor in its recent drive against anti-society elements.
SP Cantt Division Shehbaz Elahi had directed concerned DSPs and SHOs to take strict action against robbers, thieves and drug peddlers.

Accordingly, Cantt Division Police busted gangs and arrested seven members belonging to different gangs and made recoveries worth more than two hundred thousand rupees from them.
Moreover, 40 proclaimed offenders of A and B categories in cases of dacoity, theft, cheque dishonour, fraud and other crimes were arrested along with 54 court offenders.
Police also recovered thousands of rupees from the criminals in its successful action against seven gamblers.
Cantt Division Police also arrested 34 criminals for violating bans on kite flying, one wheeling, begging and misuse of loudspeakers.
