Lahore to hold PSL final or not: Punjab decides today

LAHORE: Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif will chair a meeting on Saturday to reach a final decision about holding the final of Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Lahore or not.

Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah had yesterday said that the provincial government will do its utmost to hold the showcase match in Lahore.

PSL Chief Najam Sethi after a meeting with the chief minister of Punjab said that efforts are being made to hold the final in Lahore, however, the final decision will be taken in view of the current situation.

The meeting chaired by Shahbaz Sharif today will review the security situation and other relevant matters, officials said.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had asked the government to grant security clearance for the PSL final within two days. “The government has to decide soon, so as the matters related to tickets and other arrangements should be made,” the board officials said.

In an earlier meeting on security the officials were agreed to get assistance of the Rangers and the Army along with the police, to ensure a foolproof security for the cricket event.

The Police has devised a comprehesive security plan if the government decides to hold the final in Lahore, official sources said.
