Lahore: Two labourers die as building caves in

LAHORE: At least two labourers died and two others injured when an under-construction commercial building caved in, ARY News reported Tuesday.

The commercial plaza building was being constructed in Manawan area when a tragedy occurred. At least 5 labourers were working at the construction site at the time of incident.

Soon after the information, Rescue-1122 officials reached the site and pulled the bodies out of the rubble.

The deceased labourers were identified as Azhar and Siddique. According to initial investigation, the building collapsed due to use of substandard material in its construction. Police have arrested the building contractor, Tanver while the owner, Tariq Bajwa is still at large.

DSP Manawan said construction of other buildings by the same owner was also being stopped.
