Investigating officer 'not biased' in Dr. Asim case, rules court

The court was hearing a case against former federal minister and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader, Dr. Asim Hussain, for allegedly facilitating treatment of terrorists at his privately-run hospital.

The Rangers had accused the IO of being biased towards Hussain and stressed the need for impartiality in the case.

The court held a close overview of the petition earlier filed by the Rangers’ attorney and announced the verdict on Thursday. It stated that the accusations against the IO over the loss of case files and documents could not be proven.

The absolved the police official of the charges and allowed him to continue working on the case. The IO maintained that he had been impartial and diligent in performing his duties.

The ATC deferred further proceedings of the case till May 16.
