PESHAWAR: The lawyers have hinted at launching a protest movement against the government if it fails to take concrete steps to control inflation in the country, ARY News reported on Monday.

The lawyers have organised a protest demonstration against inflation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on the call of Peshawar High Court Bar Association (PHCBA) and took out a rally from the Peshawar High Court (PHC) to KP Assembly’s gate.

The protesting lawyers demanded the government to withdraw the hike in petroleum products’ prices besides taking serious steps to control the prices of the essential commodities. They threatened to launch a protest movement against the government if steps are not taken to control the inflation.

Prior to starting the protest demonstration, a session was held at the high court bar room which was addressed by the Peshawar High Court Bar Association (PHCBA) president Bahlol Khattak and senior lawyers.

The lawyers have also constituted a committee headed by Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president Abdul Lateef Afridi to lead the lawyers’ movement against inflation.

PHCBA general secretary Qaiser Zaman told ARY News that the lawyers were going to start a movement against inflation and protest will be recorded every week.
