The ECP said both the provincial governments had requested it to postpone LB elections. The Government of Punjab wrote a formal letter to the ECP stating that government employees cannot discharge electoral duties in wake of flood situation.
The Government of Sindh, in its meeting with ECP officials yesterday, had also excused from holding LB elections on September 20.
The election commission said it has informed the Supreme Court about the situation and schedule for LB polls in both the provinces will be issued after further guidance by the apex court.
