Leave India: MNS-affiliate gives Pakistani artists 48-hour deadline

“We gave a 48-hour deadline to Pakistani actors and artists to leave India or MNS will push them out,” said Amey Khopkar of the MNS Chitrapat Sena.

Amey Khopkar did not only stop here.

Going a step further, he even threatened to beat up Pakistani artists and all those who cast them in their Indian productions.

“Pakistani artists will be beaten up and so will the producers and directors,” he added.

Pakistani artists including noted gazal singer Ghulam Ali, have a history of being threatened in India by varying conservative groups, mainly political.

In the past, Shiv Sena had also forced Ghulam Ali to cancel his performance in Mumbai. They also threatened to launch a stir against a cricket match between India and Pakistan during the T20 World Cup.

In a strange response to a Sunday’s attack at an Indian army base in the held Kashmir, an Indian journalist Soumyadipta Banerjee urged Bollywood to ban Pakistani artist Fawad Khan, asking him to leave.

The newest threat from the MNS-affiliate has also come at a time when relationships between Pakistan and India were moving towards a possible deadlock.

India accused Pakistan of being behind the deadly army base attack that killed 18 soldiers and said it had the right to respond when and where it chose – a clear threat to Pakistan.
