Legal reform bill to change lives of vulnerable: Farogh Naseem

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Law and Justice Barrister Dr. Muhammad Farogh Naseem here on Friday  said that the legal reform bill, that was expected to be tabled in the Parliament next week, would change the lives of the vulnerable.

Talking to Poverty Alleviation Coordination Council Chairperson Dr. Sania Nishtar, who called on him today, Farogh Naseem said that the legal reform package will assist the weak sections of the society.

According to a notification issued by the ministry, he said, “Previously district Judges had the authority to make decisions regarding legal aid. We are working to make it more accessible to vulnerable women and children.”

Farogh Naseem further said that the upcoming legislation will ensure that the women are not deprived of their property rights and women ombudsman would take notice of any such case and deal it as a civil suit.

He said that letters of administration and succession certificates will be linked up with NADRA to help the legal heirs of the deceased. The minister said that the legislation aims to fight injustice and inequality.
