He was signed by the county team after he struck a century in the Twenty20 game against Ireland on the tour to England.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Leicestershire Wasim Khan said,  “I am aware that there was keen interest from other counties, so I am delighted that we have managed to secure someone of Sharjeel’s ability for the duration of the 2017 NatWest T20 Blast campaign.”

Sharjeel was delighted to be playing county cricket in England.

Khan said, “It has been an ambition of mine to play county cricket and I would like to thank Leicestershire for this great opportunity.”

He added, “A number of fine Pakistan batsmen have played for Leicestershire over the years including Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq and Umar Akmal, and I’m pleased to be following in their footsteps.”

It should be noted that Sharjeel Khan helped Pakistan clinch a whooping nine wicket win over England in the one-off T20 at Manchester on Wednesday night.

Leicestershire had finished at last place in the North Group after winning just four out of their 14 games.
