LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has barred the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) from the verification of the thumb-prints of the voters in NA-118 – ARY News reports.
According to details, the LHC heard the case on Wednesday regarding the verification of thumb-prints in the constituency NA-118, Lahore-1.
During the hearing, the court barred NADRA from verifying the votes.
Earlier to this, the Election Tribunal Lahore had issued the orders of thumb-print verification to NADRA in NA-118.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Hamid Khan had filed the petition in the Election Tribunal, stating that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) nominee, Malik Riaz had won the seat in the General Elections 2013 using unfair means.
He had requested for the re-count of votes and to verify the casted votes by means of thumb impressions through NADRA.
