LoC tension: Pakistan wants peace, but no ‘hegemony’ to be accepted, says Nisar

“We will not accept any hegemony or aggression. It is decided that any aggression or use of arms from the other side will now be responded with equal force. No one should be in a misconception that Pakistan’s voice could be curbed [on Kashmir issue]” said the minister while addressing a press conference here.

“Leaders on the other [Indian] side should learn that military adventurism is no solution.”

He said the National Security Council meeting was based on two-point agenda.

1- Tension along Line of Control

2- Military operation in North Waziristan

Pakistan army assured us that they were capable for responding to any attack or aggression from other side. He said the prime minister of Pakistan attempted his best to reach out to neighboring countries to improve diplomatic relations.

We both, he said, are the nuclear states hence we have a responsibility to ensure peace. No country could damage or run over the other, he added.

He said Pakistan would take the international observer of the United Nations at the border to let them know the truth.

It was agreed that Pakistan deem peace as the major solution to the crisis. He added that Pakistan also took such peaceful steps in the past to defuse tension.

The two prime ministers had agreed to further bilateral talks. But recent border tension has once again strained the dialogue process.

The minister said the other side [India] cancelled secretary-level talks on pretext of border tension. We are told that the firing was not a routine. Heavy arms were used in it that claimed at least 13 lives in the Pakistan side and houses were destroyed.

The gist of our meeting is that Pakistan army, civil leadership, nation are united that we wanted solution to crisis through talks. But Paksitan will not to tolerate any hegemony be it military or strategic, he clarified.

Khan said Pakistan army was busy in operation against militants in tribal areas of Fata. The Indian side alleged that firing was started from the Pakistan side, however there are no substantive evidence to corroborate their claims.
