HYDERABAD: Sindh police on Friday arrested a madressa teacher in Hyderabad city after a video of him torturing students went viral on social media, ARY News reported.

The video of the madressa (religious seminary) teacher torturing students with a pipe went viral on social media on Thursday prompting Inspector General Sindh to take notice of the incident and order arrest.

The madressa teacher can be seen punishing the students by brutally torturing them with a rubber pipe in the madressa located inside a mosque in Masoom Shah colony of Hyderabad city.

As a man admonishes him for his behaviour, he replies that none can stop him even if he kills his students.

“None can harm me even if I kill them,” the teacher can be seen saying in the video.

Shabbir Ahmed was taken into custody by local police after IG Sindh ordered his immediate arrest and inquiry.

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah also took notice of the incident and has ordered Hyderabad commissioner to submit a report.

The CM, while ordering an inquiry, said that nobody should be allowed to torture children, adding that education department should start counseling sessions to prevent future incidents of abuse.

As police took the teacher named Shabbir Ahmed into custody, it emerged that he himself is a police officer and worked part time as a madressa teacher.

Shabbir Ahmed was suspended while a case has been registered against him on the complaint of a student’s father.
