Malaysian PM to be conferred with Pakistan’s highest civilian award

ISLAMABAD: Malaysian Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Muhammad will be conferred with Pakistan’s highest civilian award Nishan-e-Pakistan on Friday at the President House.

In a special ceremony today, President Arif Alvi will honor the Malaysian premier with the award.

Earlier today, Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohamad was presented a guard of honour at the Prime Minister House.

Following the ceremony, Pakistan and Malaysia signed five memorandums of understanding in various sectors.

In his informal talk with the reporters Finance Minister Asad Umar said that Malaysia has expressed interest in buying meat and rice from Pakistan.

The Malaysian delegation also showed their interest in buying Pakistani made JF-17 Thunder fighter jets.

The finance minister further added, it was also agreed to open branches of banks between both the countries.

The Malaysian premier is on a three-day visit to Pakistan on the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan and will be the guest of honour at the Pakistan Day Parade on March 23.

Prime Minister Imran Khan welcomed Mahathir Mohamad as he landed in Pakistan yesterday. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Khusro Bakhtiar and other ministers were also present on the occasion.

A 21-gun salute was given to PM Mahathir upon his arrival at the Prime Minister House.
