Man strangles five kids to death, attempts suicide in Layyah

LAYYAH: A man strangled his five kids to death and himself attempted suicide by consuming poison on Thursday in Layyah, ARY News reported.

The report revealed by a medical superintendent said the father to five, Tariq, killed his four daughters and a son, by strangulating. The kids aged between 5 and 12 years.

Paternal grandmother of the kids could not speak a word out of shock.

ARY News Correspondent Syed Kosar Abbas said they lived in a joint family and the children would everyday fight with their cousins, hence their father had decided to take his kids out of that house. “Tariq also used to quarrel a lot of times in his house,” said his neighbors.

Kosar Abbas said around 12 years ago Tariq had killed his sister over allegation of having illicit relations. He then spent two years in jail following the murder, however he was later released on request of his mother, who was plaintiff in this case. The correspondent said the accused was then also cleared of medical tests for his mental health.

Police said the accused had confessed to his crime before doctor, when he gained consciousness.
