The idea of men wearing a floral tiara would definitely take minutes to set in. Because, be it a Snapchat filter or in real life, men usually abhor their image of having a floral crown over their heads.

The tradition of weaning tiaras is associated with women worldwide, however, now we know of few tribes in Saudi Arabia where men proudly don floral crowns.

In Saudi Arabia’s regions of Jizan and Asir near its border with Yemen, men do not follow the ancient Saudi tradition of wearing checked handkerchiefs, they rather cover their heads with floral tiaras.

Every morning, garlands and crowns made of fresh flowers are brought into local markets and then people buy them to embellish their heads.

Men buy ready-made tiaras while few get it customized as per their choice of flowers.

From kids to old citizens, the entire male community would be seen wearing tiaras in this part of the Kingdom. People often purchase those crowns which match with their clothes.

These floral crowns also contain herbs which are considered to be beneficial for health. Headache is also believed to be treated through these herbs woven into crowns.

This tribe also lives on the other side of Yemeni border and they live in mountains in homes built by stones.

As per a general conception, Saudi Arabia is deemed as a desert region where growth of flowers is extremely minimal. Nevertheless, 2,000 different types of flowers bloom in this particular area of the Kingdom.
