KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned the citizens of Karachi to observe caution as the mercury in the city will likely to reach to 43 degree Celsius on Thursday (today).

The weather pundits have advised people to avoid unnecessarily going out of their homes or offices in the scorching weather. They should cover heads to avoid the brunt of extreme heat, doctors advise.

The doctors have also advised maximum use of water and beverages during the hot spell.

The spell of extreme hot weather with temperatures above 40 degree Celsius will continue till Friday (tomorrow).

The PMD in an earlier report warned that Karachi would experience dry and extremely warm weather during the months of May and June this year.

The extreme weather will continue to batter the metropolis and other cities of Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan provinces, the met office said.

Pakistan is one of the countries, which have suffered most the changing weather patterns and the climate change in the world.

Europe’s national science academies in a recent report said that the world has seen increase in extreme weather events with a four-fold hike in major flooding events since 1980, and a doubling of significant storms, droughts and heat waves.
