Met office forecasts rainfall for Karachi, lower Sindh

Fresh weather system of monsoon entering in Pakistan from India could result in a wet spell in Lower Sindh, Punjab and federal capital Islamabad, weather department said.

A well marked low pressure area persists over central parts of India (Madhya Pradesh) which is likely to move further westward during next 24 hours. A fresh westerly wave is also likely to approach during mid of coming week. Under the influence of these meteorological conditions, more monsoon currents of moderate to strong intensity are likely to penetrate in Pakistan, producing good spells of rains in coming days, met office said.

Karachi residents had a pleasant day on Sunday with cloudy sky and intermittent drizzle in different parts of the city with the maximum temperature of 31.5 degrees Celsius and similar weather conditions might persist on Monday (today).

The weather on Monday expected to be partly cloudy or cloudy with chances of light rain and drizzle and the maximum temperature will be between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius, the met office said.

Rain or dust-thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls is expected at a number of places in Punjab, Islamabad, Lower Sindh and Kashmir from Monday to Thursday, the weather forecast said. Rainfall or dust-thunderstorm and windstorm is also expected at scattered places of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, upper Sindh and eastern Balochistan during the period, the met office further said.

Hot and humid weather would continue in other parts of the country.
