Met office predicts new winter rains in country from Friday

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Meteorological Department, which has already announced that the current period of cold winter would continue in the country for at least two more days, forecasted on Thursday a latest rainy spell starting from Friday (tomorrow).

According to officials at the Met office, rain clouds would emerge from the west which would subsequently bring rain in dry provinces of Balochistan and Sindh.

The rain would continue in parts of Balochistan from Friday to Sunday and from Friday to Saturday in Sindh, claimed the Met office.

On the other hand, the predicted rain spell would also hit scattered regions of Punjab, Pakistan’s biggest province by population over the coming weekend.

Some areas of the federal capital and upper Punjab would receive rain showers from Sunday to Wednesday while on Sunday; the region of South Punjab would observe rain at few places.

Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, federally administered tribal areas (Fata) and Gilgit Baltistan would also be blessed with winter rains along with thunderstorm from Saturday to Wednesday.

Mountainous regions of the country would get snowfall over the weekend, said the Met office on Thursday.

Many parts of the country were witnessing a highly chilled winter season this year including Karachi amid gas load-shedding at some regions.

Locals in Kalat division were experiencing issues in the frosty weather due to gas load-shedding in the region.
