ISLAMABAD: Russian Ambassador to Pakistan, Alexey Dedov has said that talks are underway regarding the provision of modern gunship helicopters to Pakistan, whereas Pakistan’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz will be visiting Moscow in this regard from June 18 to 20 – ARY News reports.
During a press briefing here on Tuesday, the Russian Ambassador told that Pakistan has placed an order for the purchase of MI-35 helicopters from Russia. He said that talks are ongoing in this regard, while there were no sanctions imposed on Pakistan in defense sector.
Alexey Dedov told that Pakistan’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz will be visiting Moscow from June 18-20, regarding the purchase of MI-35. He added that these choppers can be used for multiple purposes.
The Russian Ambassador said that Russia is concerned about increasing terrorism in Pakistan and his country will provide all possible assistance to Pakistan for counter-terrorism.
Dedov further said that security in the region will be a major challenge, once the NATO forces withdraw from Afghanistan.
