Five candidates are contesting for the seat, namely: Sultan Mahmood (PTI); Chaudhary Muhamad Ashraf (PPP); Engineer Noman Akram (Jamaat e Islami); Nishat Kazmi (Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Party) and Ejaz Raza (independent).
PML-N candidate Mr. Arshad Mahmood Ghazi has already withdrawn himself in the favour of Muhammad Ashraf.
A close contest is expected between the PTI and the PPP candidate.
Polling started at 8am and will continue till 5pm. The authorities have declared 81 polling stations sensitive.
The administration has sealed entry and exit points of the city to prevent any untoward incident.
