Mobile phone snatchers gun down young student in Karachi

KARACHI: Mobile phone snatchers on Tuesday shot dead a student of eight grade here in Zaman Town, Korangi, ARY News reported.

Family of the deceased young boy has registered an FIR in Zaman Town police station. Parents of the victim said their son Ahsan was playing a video game on his mobile phone before his house when two mobile snatchers arrived and snatched his phone and fired in his head.

The father said a next door neighbor’s son was also sitting with the victim in the street when this incident took place.

According to the FIR, both the assailants were wearing pant and shirt and they seemed to be immature.

“One of the assaulters had covered his face with cloth,” the FIR said.

Police have launched an investigation into the murder.

Within last three months, 9,664 citizens of the metropolis had been deprived of their cellphones during street crime incidents, Citizens Police Liasion Committee (CPLC) had said in a report on April 2.

According to the committee, over 60 people including policemen had been killed in last three months.

Besides the snatching of 9,664 cellphones, 5,813 motorbikes and 345 cars had been either stolen or taken on gun point from citizens, the report issued by the CPLC had noted.
