KARACHI: Seventh death anniversary of legendary comedian actor Moin Akhtar is being observed on Sunday.

He was awarded with Pride of Performance and Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the government of Pakistan for his services to the entertainment sector of the country.

Pakistanis will never grow fond of Moin Akhtar, owing to the man’s God given talent. The comedian, who always induced hysterical laughter from his stand-up comedy shows or on-screen caricatures, Moin Akhtar was a man who knew his craft very well.

He began his journey to stardom by starting his career in the 60s. Bollywood superstars Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan were also avid fans of Moin Akhtar. Moin worked in a couple of films but his association with TV continued till his death.

Remembering the legend that was Moin Akhtar

Among his famous shows are Family 93, Half-Plate, Rozey, Eid Train, Buddha Ghar Pae Hae, Baqra Qiston Pe as well as others. Apart from being a successful actor, he was also a brilliant host.

Born in Karachi, his mother tongue was Urdu however he had command over several languages which included Sindhi, Punjabi, Pashto, Bengali and Gujrati. Owing to his brilliance, Pakistan government awarded him with the Sitara-i-Imtiaz.

Moin was also an author, film producer and director as well as a singer. He died on April 22, 2011 but his memory continues to live on through his memorable works.
