The federal government has written a letter to the Chief Secretary Punjab for initiating action against restaurants, shops and marts at MSAs for providing substandard and health hazardous food items to the customers.
It is further conveyed through letter that the federal government is receiving such complaints on daily basis and they had appointed National Highway Authority officers for the checking. Nevertheless, NHA officers did not have any legal authority to resolve the matter.
Following letter from the federal government, the Chief Secretary Punjab has directed all the DCOs concerned to check quality of food items and their prices on daily basis. They would also ensure the display of updated price lists in accordance with rates fixed in the jurisdiction of their respective districts.
