'Altaf Hussain wanted to kill me when I was in MQM'

KARACHI: PPP leader Nabil Gabol on Monday revealed that Muttahida Quami Movement founder Altaf Hussain hatched a plot to assassinate him during his days with MQM.

Gabol made the shocking disclosure during ARY News program “11th Hour” on Tuesday, saying a member of the MQM’s coordination committee informed him that the party leadership allegedly wanted to assassinate him.

During a tour of his stronghold Lyari, Gabol said that he joined MQM as he wanted to serve the people as a parliamentarian and saw it as a good platform in Karachi.

However, he said, that certain elements within the party were not pleased and want to eliminate him. “I was informed that I would not be treated like any other parliamentarian,” he said referring to the occassion when he won a seat on the ticket of the MQM.

“However, within six months I came to know about an attempt to assassinate me.”

Gabol admitted that it was a mistake to join the MQM, and he has apologised to the people of Lyari several times for it.

He accused that the MQM leadership including founder Altaf Hussain wanted to see him dead, and would used it for political purposes and claim that several elements cannot tolerate him in the party.

Gabol said that he was sure of the plot, and he was informed by a serving member of the MQM’s coordination committee to increase his security over the assassination plot.
