MQM-P chief threatens his party will resign from parliament

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) chief Farooq Sattar has threatened that his party would resign from the parliament if any of their leaders was forced to switch loyalty to another party, ARY News reported.

“We will resign from the Senate, National Assembly and Sindh Assembly, if loyalty of our leaders is tried to change,” he said talking to media in Karachi referring towards MQM Senator Mian Attique Sheikh who casted his vote in favour of Elections Bill 2017 paving way for deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif to lead Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

He said a conspiracy was being hatched to reduce the true representation of Sindh in the Senate and the time has come to make a decision as members of MQM-P in the Sindh Assembly were being forced to change loyalties. He also asked the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to accept resignations of those who dissociated with his party.

“Resignations of those members of national assembly and provincial assembly should be immediately accepted who have disassociated with us and announce by-elections for the vacated seats,” he said.

Casting out the allegation of former MQM-P leader, Salman Mujahid Baloch, the MQM-P chief said since last year August his party had ended contact with MQM-London.

This should be noted that MPA Mehmood Abdul Razzaq dissociated himself with the MQM-P on October 13 and joined the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP).

Former MQM-P MPA from PS-116 constituency announced this in a meeting with Chairman PSP Mustafa Kamal and President PSP Anees Qaimkhani in Samaro town of Umerkot district.

Abdul Razzaq said corruption and leg-pulling was ongoing within the party for the last one and a half years and statements of MQM-P leaders were often conflicting, hence, it was not possible for him to work for the betterment of Sindh.
