A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali while hearing a petition filed by Zafar Ali Shah issued notices to 97 respondents including Prime Minister, the leader of opposition, Senate Chairman and speakers of National Assembly and Sindh Assembly.
The petitioner pleaded to the court that resignations of the MQM lawmakers became affective on the day when they personally confirmed to the speakers of assemblies. He said any attempt to bring them back to the assemblies would be against constitution.
The Chief Justice observed that the petitions about resignations of the lawmakers of PTI and MQM will be heard together in the next hearing.
The court later adjourned the hearing of the case for an indefinite period.
