KARACHI: Another Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani on Saturday joined the Pak Sarzameen Party following a meeting with the party leadership in Karachi, ARY News reported.

The senior MQM leader from Mirpurkhas announced conjoining with PSP along with his other fellows at a press conference alongside Chairman PSP Mustafa Kamal, President PSP Anis Qaimkhani and Senior Vice President PSP Anees Advocate.

Welcoming the new members, Mustafa Kamal said they had a tradition of turning their party members’ weaknesses into strength rather than slinging mud on them or highlighting their faults.

“We have not gathered on this platform for personal gains, therefore we are strong as a solid rock,” he said.

Kamal said with the onset of summer power cuts across the megalopolis shot up resulting in extreme trouble for the residents.

“It appears as if nothing as such governance exists in the country.  K-Electric (KE) blames Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) for the crisis and vice versa,” he said.

He also reprimanded Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah for not taking swift action on this grave matter saying that writing to the prime minister would not help resolve the issue. “You are not living in another country where you need to write letter to your prime minister for communication. Pick up the phone and make a call right away and solve the issue at earliest possible.”

Anis said the conflict between KE and SSGC had inflicted excruciating pain upon the citizens. KE should pay arrears of SSGC and the gas supplying company should provide gas as per requirement of the metropolis, he said.

“The existing crisis of power shortage establishes failure of the provincial and federal governments,” he said.

Mustafa Kamal also condemned the rape and murder of little Asifa Bano in Indian held Kashmir.
