Multan court bans Reham's tell-all book

MULTAN:  A civil court in Multan on Tuesday issued a stay order, banning publication of PTI chief Imran Khan’s former wife Reham Khan’s upcoming tell-all autobiography till June 9, ARY News reported.  

The court issued the injunction on an application filed by Advocate Ghulam Mustafa, who sought a restraining order against publication and circulation of the book.

It directed the respondents – Reham, Pakistan’s former ambassador to the US Hussain Haqqani and Pakistan Electronic Media and Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) – to submit their respective replies to it on next hearing.

The lawyer contended that the journalist’s autobiography is an effort to slander the PTI chief in order to sabotage coming general elections. This book is based on foreign agenda, he claimed.

He alleged that the former ambassador and the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) in cahoots with the author want to dent the image of institutions through the book.

The applicant, therefore, pleaded that the book should be banned until the upcoming general elections.

Raham’s tall-all book reportedly includes serious allegations about the PTI chief, her first husband Ijaz Rehman, businessman Zulifkar Bukhari, and cricket legend Wasim Akhtar, who have also served defamation notices on her.
