Murad leads team to play friendly T20 cricket match


KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah on Sunday played a friendly T20 cricket match at the stadium of the NED University held to celebrate the 70th independence day of Pakistan.

Murad Ali Shah gave an all-round performance and scored 27 runs from 16 balls including 4 fours until he was stumped out. He also scored grabbed two wickets in three overs.

Their team NED alumni scored 107 runs in the allotted ten overs against NED XII led by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sarosh Lodhi. They defeated NED XII by seventeen runs to win the independence day cricket match.

Pakistan cricket team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed was also present to watch the match and was awarded a shield by CM Sindh after the match.

Speaking to media after the match, the chief minister said the security situation was worse in Karachi and other parts of Sindh since the last two decades which has improved to a large extent. He announced that Sindh Games will be held this year.

The chief minister said that there is no lack of talent in the youth, and it is his desire to build stadiums and grounds for sports in the province.

He said that schools and even universities are being built without stadiums, which depressives the youth from sports and other healthy activities. He said there is was no lack of talent, and he would request former cricketers to visit other cities of the province particularly rural areas to promote the sport.
