KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Thursday said that Pakistan’s commerce and industry had a great potential and Sindh contributed a major share in this respect.
This he said while addressing a reception hosted by Ministry of Commerce for the trade delegates participating in Expo-2017 Trade Exhibition here at Mohatta Palace. Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi chaired the reception.
The chief minister said that the 10th 3-day Expo Pakistan-2017, organised by the Ministry of Commerce and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) was a perennial high-profile exhibition in which more than 9000 buyers from 85 participating countries were in Pakistan to meet with their business counterparts for mutual benefits.

He said the theme of the current Expo – `Emerging Pakistan` will promote its true progressive image of the country internationally. “It is a good theme that incorporates the spirit and expectations of the investors in Pakistan,” he said.
Murad Ali Shah said, “I along with Governor Sindh Zubair Ahmed and leader of opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah inaugurated the Expo-2017 and visited many of the stalls set up,” he said and added “It was a fabulous exhibition in which more than 900 countries had showcased their products,” he went on saying the Expo-2017, the Emerging Pakistan had become a platform to bring together the traders from different counties to interact and explore trade opportunities.
He said that Pakistan, particularly the port city of Karachi was fast assuming the role of hosting international business deals through such Expos.
Taking this opportunity, he said the PPP government and the sagacious policies of its top leadership have ensured peace after years of unrest. The peace has been restored with the political will of the government, sacrifices of the law enforcement agencies and with the support of Karachiites, he said.

He said the Sindh government has given top priority to the development of infrastructure of the city. “I am in constant contact with the business leaders to resolve their issues,” he said added “I have also involved the industrialists of the city to develop infrastructure of their respective industrial areas on their own.”
Murad Shah said, “We have also developed a vast road network in the province and have built two bridges on River Indus, one at Jhirk-Mulakatiar and other at Thatta- Sujawal,” he said and added “these bridges and road network have made access easy, a result, work on Thar vast coal reserves and coal-fired power plant is in progress.”
Concluding his speech, the chief minister said the Sindh government has established Sindh Board of Investment to facilitate and support the investors. Sindh has vast opportunities for international investment.
