Murtaza Wahab criticises hike in dollar price

KARACHI: Adviser to the Sindh Chief Minister on Information, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, on Wednesday strongly criticised the latest hike in dollar price, ARY News reported.

Murtaza Wahab said in his statement that the dollar was available at Rs158 on Wednesday morning but it reached to Rs164 at the end of day. He alleged that the economic situation of the country is worsening day by day.

He added that Prime Minister Imran Khan had always taught a lesson about huge financial deficit the nation suffers after the increase in dollar rates. He said that the premier should name the responsible for the latest hike and its financial losses.

The adviser also complained about the absence of PM Khan in the National Assembly session.

Earlier in the day, With no one to pull US dollar’s reins, it reached Rs162.47 in the interbank market.

As per details, the rate of greenback increased by Rs5.2 during the trading.

the dollar was being traded at Rs2.2 on the onset of trading and within a few hours it soared to Rs. 5.2 in the interbank market.

Last week, the US dollar continued to gain strength against the Pakistani rupee as it was being traded at Rs157 in the open market.

The worth of the greenback increased by Rs3.10 in the interbank market to reach Rs156 on June 14.
