Muslim journalists have a responsibility to defend real Islam: Imam-e-Kaaba

ISLAMABAD: Imam-e-Ka’aba Sheikh Saleh Abdullah bin Humaid has said that the journalists in the Muslim countries have a responsibility to defend the real Islam, which totally rejects terrorism and advocates peace and tolerance. 

In a meeting with Charge d Affairs at Pakistan Embassy Lisbon, Fayyaz Ahmed Khan and veteran journalist Azfar Bukhari at the ceremony of 50th Anniversary of Lisbon Islamic Community Centre, Imam-e-Ka’aba said that Saudi Arabia too is promoting moderation and peaceful co-existence because Islam rejects all forms of terrorism.

“Media in Muslim countries have to play an important role in this regard,” he added.

Both Bukhari and Khan sought blessings from Imam-e-Ka’aba and requested him to pray for the prosperity of Pakistan.

Sheikh Saleh Abdullah bin Humaid also praised Pakistan’s efforts for the restoration of global peace.

Expressing his sentiments about the Pakistani nation, he said he had strong feelings of love and affection towards Pakistani people.

Separately, the acting Pakistani ambassador and Bukhari also met Prime Minister of Portugal Antonio Costa at the Lisbon Islamic Community Centre where both were invited as special guests.

During the informal meeting, Bukhari briefed the Portuguese premier about the opening of the visa facilitation centre at the Embassy of Pakistan in Lisbon and requested for similar facility in the Embassy of Portugal, Islamabad.

The Portuguese PM has assured that he would do his best to enhance bilateral ties between the two friendly nations.

It is pertinent to mention here that Azfar Bukhari is these days visiting different European countries along with ARY News team to promote the Prime Minister-Chief Justice Fund for Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand dams as well as Pakistani culture and tourism all across Europe.

In the year 2011, Sindh Assembly had passed a unanimous resolution to honor his services rendered for the country.
