NA speaker notifies panel to probe Najam Saqib’s alleged audio leak

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly (NA) constituted a parliamentary committee to investigate the audio leaks of Najam Saqib Nisar, the son of the former chief justice Saqib Nisar, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

The National Assembly secretariat has issued a notification to form a parliamentary committee to investigate the recent audio leaks of Najam Saqib Nisar.

According to the notification, National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has appointed Mohammad Aslam Bhutani as the chairman of the parliamentary committee.

The other members of the parliamentary committee include Shahida Akhtar Ali, Muhammad Abubakr, Chaudhry Muhammad Barjees Tahir and Sheikh Rohail Asghar.

Moreover, Syed Hussain Tariq, Naz Baloch, Khalid Hussain Magsi, Wajiha Qamar, Afzal Khan Dhandla are also part of the committee.

As per the issued notification, the committee can seek the assistance of any institution for investigation, meanwhile, the committee will conduct a comprehensive investigation and present its report to the National Assembly.

Earlier, an alleged audio leak of the former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar’s son Najam Saqib and PTI ticket holder emerged online.

In the first part of the audio leak, Najam Saqib and PTI ticket-holder Abuzar Chaddhar can be heard talking about tickets while the second part comprises a call recording between Najam and Mian Uzair.

In the leaked audio clip, the person believed to be Saqib Nisar’s son can purportedly be heard discussing the distribution of PTI tickets with the party’s candidate from the PP-137 constituency.
