NA wrap-up: MQM walks out, Kala-Bagh Dam bone of contention for Fed.


ISLAMABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) members of the National Assembly staged a walkout from the House on Tuesday over the alleged pre-poll rigging of the Local Body (LB) elections by the Sindh Government – ARY News reports.

According to details, the session of the National Assembly was held earlier today, which was presided by the Speaker, Ayaz Sadiq.

During the session, MQM member Rasheed Godil alleged that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) members are alternating the delimitations by sitting together with the administrative officials. He labeled the new Sindh Local Government Act 2013 as black law, which cannot be accepted at all.

During the debate on the construction of new dams in the country, PMLN member Mahmood Rasheed Virk said that the construction of Kala-Bagh Dam is an important need of the hour and it should be constructed soon.

At which, PPP member Ayaz Soomro said that the Kala-Bagh Dam will be built on the dead bodies of the people of Sindh, he advised the Government to quit its intention to construct the dam for the sake of Federation.

Meanwhile, PTI member Javed Hashmi said that the dam should be constructed through negotiations. He further warned that when every single individual of Sindh will be demanding to construct the Kala-Bagh Dam, then there will neither be the resources nor the circumstances will be as such.

Opposition Leader, Syed Khursheed Shah also stated that the Federation should not be weakened by taking up such matters, rather the Government should try to resolve other issues including the inflation and terrorism in the state.

Moreover, the bills suggesting the increase of seats for the minorities and disabled were also tabled in the House.
