KARACHI: An accountability court on Saturday acquitted former president Asif Ali Zardari in a case pertaining to his “illegal assets” in Pakistan and abroad, ARY News reported.
Lawyer Farooq H Naek had filed a petition to acquit the accused.
Accountability Court Judge Khalid Mehmood Ranjha held hearing of the case against Zardari.
The court announced the verdict after hearing arguments from both the sides for three months.
The accountability court was reportedly not provided enough evidences against the former president.
The reference against Zardari of possessing illegal assets was filed by the National Accountability Bureau in 2001.
