ISLAMABAD: Under the Supreme Court’s July 28 verdict, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has tasked Balochistan NAB Director General (DG) Irfan Naeem Mangi to file references against Sharif family in Panama Papers case, ARY News reported on Monday.

According to sources, NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry on Monday chaired a meeting in Islamabad to mull over filing references against Sharif family.

Reviewing the apex court’s verdict in the Panama Papers case, the NAB chief vowed to implement the court orders. The anti-corruption watchdog has devised a strategy with regard to filing a reference against the ruling family, sources added.

Mangi had also been member of the joint investigation team (JIT) that probed money trail for the Sharif family’s offshore properties and compiled a report which was submitted on July 10.

It merits to be mentioned here that the top court’s five-judge bench ordered NAB to file references against Captain Muhammad Safdar, Maryam Nawaz, Hassan and Hussain Nawaz as well as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while ousting Sharif from the premiership in the wake of the findings of JIT report.

“In case the Accountability Court finds any deed, document or affidavit filed by or on behalf of the respondent(s) or any other person(s) to be fake, false, forged or fabricated, it shall take appropriate action against the concerned person in accordance with law,” the court had then stated.
