Nawaz made Pakistan’s defence stronger with nuclear tests: Saad

ISLAMABAD: Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique on Monday said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif  made the defence of Pakistan stronger by carrying out nuclear tests.

“These tests were conducted in the best interest of the country, despite enormous international pressure,” he said while addressing a function in connection with Youm-e-Takbeer in Lahore.

This should be noted that Nawaz Sharif was the prime minister of Pakistan at that time when Pakistan became seventh nuclear world power with demonstration of nuclear capabilities and the first in the Muslim world after conducting nuclear tests at Chaghai in Balochistan on 28th May, 1998 in response to India’s nuclear bomb tests on 11th and 13th May of the same year at Pokhran in Rajhasthan state of India.

Khawaja Saad Rafique said due to effective polices of the government, the country’s economy had taken off and there was a need to strengthen democracy and keep political stability for further economic progress.

He said China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a gateway to new avenues of progress and prosperity for Pakistan.

The minister criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan for crossing all moral limits and disrespecting state institutions.

“Imran should compete with the government in development rather than in hurling abuses,” he said.

He warned the PTI chief that he was playing with fire and he could not snatch the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) voters.

He also said Pakistan Peoples Party chief Asif Ali Zardari’s visit to Punjab always benefited the PML-N.
