Nawaz, Modi expected to meet at UN General Assembly summit

Talking to journalists in Washington, PM’s Special Aide on Foreign Affairs, Tariq Fatemi told that during the UN General Assembly summit, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with the heads of several important countries including the United States (US).

When asked is Pakistan trying for a meeting of PM Nawaz Sharif with his Indian counterpart, Fatemi said Pakistan will welcome a meeting between the heads of both the neighboring states, which is widely expected.

‘The current Government of Pakistan took several measures in order to improve its ties with India and Afghanistan and Pakistan now expects both these countries to respond in a positive manner’, he added.

Tariq Fatemi continued further that PM Nawaz Sharif attended the oath-taking ceremony of Narendra Modi, after which both the leaders also exchanged gifts and Pakistan anticipates that meeting to serve as a reason to take Indo-Pak bilateral terms to a positive turn.
