Nawaz calls for prayers for his ailing wife

LONDON: Slamming his disqualification at the hands of the Supreme Court, ousted premier and PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif said the country’s elected prime ministers have either been sent to the gallows, jail or exile, adding that Pakistan will continue to descend into anarchy, if this continues.
Speaking to media in the British capital, Sharif called for prayers for his ailing wife Begum Kulsoom undergoing cancer treatment at a hospital here.
He said time and again prime ministers were dislodged from office or the elected governments were sent packing. The country’s prime ministers were even sent to the gallows, imprisoned or exiled, he added.
“What kind of Pakistan we want to bequeath to the coming generations. This all is unfortunate and needed careful consideration,” the PML-N leader said.
“If this is not stopped, God forbidden, Pakistan will keep facing anarchy,” he added.
Sharif said Pakistan is not accorded respect at the Commonwealth, nor was any reverence, it deserved, given to the countries around the world, adding that when the country move forward to achieve a respectful place in the world, obstacles rear their ugly head.
On April 18, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz left for London to see his wife who is undergoing treatment for throat cancer at a hospital.
